Science Events and Places
A place where I record the various events I either organize or take part in. This is as much for my own memory bookshelf as it is for yours.
Alumni Panel!
I was asked to be on an alumni panel for the University of Oregon Clark Honors College, where I was an undergrad, and give some advice about careers in STEM. Reflecting on my time in the Hopkins-Davis Lab has led me to a few conclusions: 1. Science is as much about community and being accepted into that community as it is about the actual science. 2. Professors that advocate for mental and physical health are the best. 3. Paleontologists can do an amazing amount of science with very little. Visiting the College of Dentistry DeBruhl Comparative Anatomy Collection at the UIC Chicago medical campus! Aug. 1 2018
In the spring quarter at the University of Chicago, Eric Bayala, Stephanie Sang, and I organized the 'Art and Science' Exposition. We received over 70 submissions, including pictures, videos, and sculptures from across the university. It was an amazing display of talent and creativity! The event was packed the entire time and we were exhausted by the end, but it was well worth it. We are planning to hold the art show again in 2018. Special thanks goes out to Dean's Council and the Graduate Student Council for funding the event. |
